Hassenfeld Institute Receives Award

The Rhode Island Community Food Bank has awarded The Hassenfeld Child Health Innovation Institute at Brown University their 2019 Guy Abelson Food Bank Leadership Award for their efforts on the 2019 Hunger Survey.

The Hassenfeld Child Health Innovation Institute at Brown University is led by Dr. Patrick Vivier, MD. Dr. Vivier and his team conducted the 2019 Rhode Island Hunger Survey for the Food Bank, which interviewed 419 people at food pantries and meal programs across the state. The results of the survey will inform the Food Bank’s strategic planning and advocacy efforts.

The Rhode Island Community Food Bank’s Leadership Award is presented every October at the Rhode Island Community Food Bank’s Annual Meeting to an individual or organization that contributes to the Food Bank and/or its network of member agencies through a significant commitment of funds, volunteer time, or pro bono assistance. The award celebrates the generosity of spirit embodied by the late Guy Abelson, a local civic leader and philanthropist who was a longtime friend and fundraiser for the Food Bank.
