Biography

Dr. Ashley Maxie-Moreman is a licensed clinical psychologist, currently working in the HIV prevention and treatment program at Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C. She also holds a faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and of Pediatrics at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. In her research, Dr. Maxie-Moreman has examined discrimination in digital spaces, health outcomes, and protective mechanisms. She aims to better understand the health impact of online discrimination among youth with intersecting marginalized identities to create transformative pathways towards improved health outcomes.

On November 14, 2024, Brown University and the Hassenfeld Child Health Innovation Institute held a day-long conference, Social Media and Children's Mental Health at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. This convening brought together youth, parents, clinicians, educators and policymakers to share strategies and solutions to address the mental health of children and youth in the digital age.
